National Library Week at the Harlingen Public Library: Libraries Lead

The Harlingen Public Library will be celebrating National Library Week April 8-13, with our culminating event, the Viva Streets/National Library Week Celebration, taking place on Friday, April 13. We will have activities throughout the week to showcase the ways we’re evolving as a library to meet the changing needs, interests, and aspirations of the people of Harlingen. On Friday, April 13, the Viva Streets/National Library Week Celebration will promote healthy minds and bodies. The library will host a Reading Zone, where families can listen to a community leader read a story, engage in the STEM challenge or another activity, and connect with local organizations that promote literacy development. With Viva Streets, the streets will become a paved playground, reserved for walkers, runners, and cyclists. Presenters will motivate participants to move with dance, Zumba, martial arts, aerobics, and other demonstrations. There will be food, a car show, the Mascot Dance Off, and a lot of fun!
