National Library Week Celebration Returns

The library held its eighth National Library Week Celebration April 2-9. Thanks to everyone who joined us for the celebration! We had a blast!

Over 500 people joined us for the event. Children were able to select and keep books from the South Texas Literacy Coalition and the Harlingen Housing Authority. Groups including the Valley Byliners, Texas Master Naturalists, the Knifty Knitters, the RGV Quilting Guild, CASA of Cameron and Willacy, and the Harlingen Children’s Bereavement Center shared information about their services.

The school librarians from HCISD and representatives from Jubilee Harlingen joined us for the event as well as the Harlingen Fire Department. Families also enjoyed live music from Mr. Frank Rocha, a cake walk and other games, and dinosaurs from Jurassic RGV!

We thank the businesses who support the library and literacy throughout the community, including HEB, Rodeo Dental and Orthodontics, Chick-fil-A, Chili’s, Texas Roadhouse, Peter Piper Pizza, Freddy’s, The Pizzeria, Sonic, Jason’s Deli, and Gloria’s Specialty Cakes.
