The Harlingen Public Library provides dynamic and engaging services for a diverse and evolving community. We champion creativity, innovation, literacy, and personal and community development for everyone.
More than a thousand visitors daily use the library’s automated catalog, multimedia resources, the Internet, online periodical databases, and over 112,000 books, magazines, e-books, audiobooks, CD’s, and DVDs available for circulation.
Our patrons also take advantage of the many story hours, children’s programs, and the many instructional programs available for adults. The library has continually been accredited by the Texas State Library. It also has membership in the Amigos Network for fast interlibrary loan service.
We exist to build bridges that strengthen the ties of our community. We create innovative pathways for people to connect with information and each other. Working together, the people of our community can experience infinite opportunities and growth. We are the bridge builders; we make ways where none exist.
Our Vision for the Future
Through innovative services, dynamic technology, and collaboration, we will be recognized by our community as the leading library in the Rio Grande Valley.
