The Reference Department is made up of Reference, Periodicals, Genealogy, Texas/Texana, Online Databases, and Archival materials.
Reference Librarian Mike Jones & his trained staff are prepared to help with your research needs.
Informational Services also offer Computer Labs, Faxing Services, Copy Machines, Printing Services, Microfiche/Microfilm. Reference and Texana material may be used, but not checked out.
The Reference Department is located on the first floor of the library. Along with reference books, the department offers an assortment of online databases to library users. All databases are accessible by signing in with your library card on the Library Online Catalog.

The Periodicals Department is located on the 2nd floor of the library.
In addition, patrons can make themselves comfortable for hours at a time looking through the many magazines, newspapers, microfiche and phone books that are available.
Genealogy & Archives can also be accessed in this area and our trained staff can assist you. Patrons can sign up to use one of the many computers located here or in the upstairs Computer Lab.
Request to look at items from the Archive Room at the Periodical Desk. Please have your Library Card with you.
High School Yearbooks, Phone Books,and Scrapbooks are chock full of Harlingen and Valley history and are available for your perusal.
